Best of the best – WorldSkills in São Paulo 2015

For the first time in its history, the World Skills competition was held in Latin America. The competition itself ran from the 11th to the 16th of August this year. For these few days, São Paulo became the „epicentre“ of vocational skills – an impressive 1,951 participants in almost 50 categories were competing to be the best in their field and earn a medal. The Car Painting competition brought together 20 young painters who had proved themselves to be the best in their country from across the globe competing for the title of „Painter World Champion“.

After ten extremely busy days of preparation by the organisational teams, the painting area was ready for the event leaving absolutely no desire of the Brazilian organizing committee unfulfilled, thus guaranteeing a smooth contest. disposable pots ensured a level playing field for all competitors, while the new SATA air vision 5000 breathing hoods warranted the highest possible degree of personal protection.

In the end, it was the Chinese delegate who crossed the line first prevailing with a very narrow margin over two talented young ladies, one from Sweden (Silver medal) and the other from the UK (Bronze medal).

Long before the last curtain fell on São Paulo during an emotional Final Ceremony, the experts already started to turn their heads to Abu Dhabi where the next edition of WorldSkills will take place in 2017.
